Dr. David & Ina Fischer

David S. Fischer, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine (Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine and an Attending Physician at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, where he continues to work in an administrative position. His numerous community activities include: president of the CT Division of the American Cancer Society, president of the New Haven Medical Association, author/editor of several books on cancer and of volumes 8 and 9 of Jews in New Haven. He served as the president of the Hebrew Congregation of Woodmont from 1994-2006. Ina Furst Fischer was born in New Haven, and her father, David Hodes, served for many years as the shamash-sexton of the Hebrew Congregation of Woodmont. She raised her children and worked as a professional photographer in New York. David and Ina met in Woodmont and were married in 2002, some years after the death of their initial spouses. They lived in Milford until 2014, and they now reside in Hamden.
